This was a self directed project where I was given the task of coming up with a final video which would loop on the large LCD displayed above The Beat the Field horse racing game. I created everything in this video except for the footage of the horse race that is reflected on the BTF flying logo as it comes onto the screen. That horse race was created by some talented people over in the Japan studio.

The second video shows the scene model I created. It’s a combination of nurbs surfaces and polygons. No rigging was required. The camera was moved along a path down the walkway. I used a simple trick for foliage along the outside of the walkway walls. The cypress trees are simply images with alpha projected onto a polygon plane with planar mapping. The camera moves fast enough that you don’t notice they aren’t dimensional.

To get the reflections seen in the letters, I used the old technique of looping the animation of a number objects surrounding the logo. I turn off their primary visibility and make them visible in reflections during the final render.
