The facial expressions are created through a series of Blend Shapes which are attached to a Controller object attached to the rig suspended above the head. Each facial expression is assigned a value from Zero to One. Zero means the expression is turned off while One means the expression is at 100%. The expressions can be keyed partially at any decimal between zero and one.

The top viewport shows the duplicates of the model which were modified to create the face blend shapes. The male figure was a purchased mode, however I changed the structure of the face for this game. All other accessories were custom modeled.

This is the head dress that I created for the model. This shows how it looks before and after the subdivision command is applied. It was sufficient to use procedural shaders to get a nice metallic look for the rendering.

The final animation for the Wild symbol was composited and rendered in After Effects. Frames for the model were rendered from Maya and imported into After Effects as well as particle effects created in Particle Illusion.
